This is general guidance by genus. Species, hybrids, potting mix and your home conditions may call for different care. Check moisture and actual growth before following a schedule.

Light and position

Bright filtered light, like an Oncidium.

When and how to water

Regular water while the pseudobulb grows; let the surface dry between waterings.

Potting mix and container

Medium bark with perlite, same as an Oncidium.

Feeding during growth

Fortnightly feed during active growth.

When to repot

Every two years, in spring, when the mix compacts.

Dormancy and seasonal changes

Light rest: less water in winter until the new growth starts.

Flowering and new growth

An arching spike with six to twelve sweetly scented flowers lasting three weeks. A well-fattened pseudobulb in summer. A small one will not bloom.

What to watch for

The flattened pseudobulb wrinkles when watering is irregular during growth.
