Download the orchid care app
FloraFlor is free on the App Store for iPhone and iPad running iOS 18 or later, in English and Spanish. No sign-up is required, and you can start with one plant. Your garden, the catalog and photo recognition work offline. Optional sync between devices requires your Apple account, a connection and available iCloud storage.
Add your first plant to My garden
Create a new orchid, give it a name you recognize and add a photo if you like. Choose its variety or genus when you know it, then save the plant. A nursery label is a useful reference. You can add an unnamed plant and complete its record later.
Find the guide for its genus
Phalaenopsis, Cattleya, Dendrobium and Vanda have different needs. FloraFlor includes guides to light, watering, potting mix, feeding, repotting, dormancy and flowering for 20 genera. If your plant has an open flower, photo recognition can suggest its genus and show a confidence level. Compare the result with its label and guide: it does not identify the exact variety or diagnose diseases.
Adjust reminders and check before watering
When you choose a genus, you can activate a care plan with initial intervals based on the season and hemisphere. Adjust reminders to what you observe at home. Use the watering check to consider moisture, roots, growth and dormancy. Wait if the mix is still moist enough, even when a reminder is due. A reminder is a prompt to inspect the orchid, rather than an instruction to water.
Log the care you have done
After watering, log it in the plant record. Save feeding you actually carried out, notes, photos, repotting and blooms too. Record a concrete observation: what the roots looked like, how the pot felt or when a flower opened. The history lets you compare your routine with the orchid’s development instead of relying on memory.
Keep your garden across devices
To use the same garden on your iPhone and iPad, check the iCloud option in Settings. Sync uses your private iCloud and keeps a local copy for offline work. Photos used only for genus recognition are processed on the device; photos you save to your garden or journal may sync. You can turn sync off and keep using the app.
Choose a routine you can keep
Start with one plant and record the changes that help you observe it. A specialist app offers genus guides and a record for each orchid, but it cannot guarantee the next bloom or resolve every symptom. If you grow orchids with an Android device, you can read the guides on this website: the FloraFlor app is available for iPhone and iPad.
Log care after you do it. Reminders help you check the plant; they do not replace observing roots, potting mix and growth.
